Your Stay - Getting Settled

Your Room
Your room includes a closet or bedside stand for your belongings, an over-bed table, and a nurse call button that rings at the Nurses' Station. Your bed has an electrical control that enables you to raise or lower the foot or head for comfort. There is also an emergency button in your bathroom that summons a nurse if needed.

Bed Side Rails
For your safety your side rails must be up after you have been given anesthetics or medication that may affect your judgment. Although it may seem unnecessary as you begin to feel better, we encourage you to use the side rails and call for assistance when getting in and out of bed.

Meals
Patients on regular and special diets are served beautifully prepared, delicious, family style meals. There is a Registered Dietician available to assist you. Diet instruction and nutritional counseling will be provided with your physician's approval. If you have special dietary needs please consult with our Dietician.

Smoking Policy
Patients, visitors, physicians, personnel and volunteers are not permitted to smoke on the indoor premises under any circumstances. For your health and the health of others, smoking is only permitted in the designated smoking areas outside the hospital at the east entrance and the emergency entrance.

Your Personal Belongings
We strongly encourage you to give any extra money, medications, credit cards, wallets, jewelry, etc. to a family member or close friend to take home. Or, ask your nurse to lock them up for you.

Eyeglasses, Dentures, Hearing Aids
Inform your nurse if you use eyeglasses, dentures or hearing aids, and you will be provided with a special container for their safety. Take care not to leave any of these items on your meal tray or lying on your bed, as they may be inadvertently disposed of or lost.
