Hospital completes purchase of clinics
Tuesday, January 30, 2007
For Immediate Release Driggs, ID - (01/30/2007) - The purchase involved the medical practices solely.
Family practice physicians Dr. Larry Curtis, Dr. Chad Horrocks, and Dr. Rob Wolfe will continue to serve patients at clinic locations in addition to becoming hospital staff physicians.
Hospital CEO Susan Kunz adds that physicians will benefit from significantly less on-call duties while hospital patients will benefit from around the clock care from on-staff physicians.
"Our goal is to provide 24/7 physician-provided ER care by March 2007," says Kunz. Currently, 24/7 ER care is handled by Physician Assistants and physicians.
By purchasing the clinics, they now fit the federal designation of a provider-based rural health care clinic. This will result in a higher percentage of Medicare reimbursements.
"It's essential that the hospital continues to grow and thrive with our community," says Kunz. "That means we have to make prudent financial decisions now in order to remain economically vital 15 years from now."
