Teton Springs Foundation Awards Grant

Wednesday, June 02, 2004

For Immediate Release

Driggs, ID - (06/02/2004) - On May 20, 2004 the Teton Springs Foundation awarded the Teton Valley Hospital Foundation $2,000 in grant funding for the purchase of education materials to replenish and expand the Hallie Harrison Memorial Lending Library.

The Hallie Harrison Community Health Lending Library, located in Teton Valley Hospital & Surgicenter (TVH&S;), contains more than 150 books, videos and audio titles in English & Spanish covering a wide range of health, wellness and self-improvement topics. The Lending Library is a free service to the Teton Valley community.

TVH&S; will utilize the Teton Springs Foundation grant funding in the areas of health and human services and education to enable TVH&S; to purchase new and replacement materials for the lending library and to promote the availability of this resource to the community. New resource materials related to pediatric rehabilitation issues are being added as well. There is a growing need to supplement the therapy program offered by High Peaks Physical Therapy with learning materials that can be made available to parents and legal guardians in an effort to educate them on the needs of their children. The materials, 39 different books, audio tapes and manuals cover topics such as Attention-Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), early sensory skills and vision and sensory integration to name a few. Supplementing the physical, occupational and/or speech language pathology therapy with at home follow-up increases the childs chances of success and further strengthens the parent/guardians involvement in the childs care and understanding of the challenges faced by the child.

TVH&S; hopes to have the new resources available in the Lending Library by early summer 2004. For questions or comments regarding the Hallie Harrison Lending Library please contact Traci Andrews, Director of Development @ (208) 354-2383 ext. 181.
