Wednesday, June 02, 2004
For Immediate Release Driggs, ID - (06/02/2004) - On May 20, 2004 the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare awarded Teton Valley Hospital & Surgicenter $15,000 in grant funding through the Rural Health Care Access Program (RHCAP). The grant funding will be used specifically for Teton Valley Hospital & Surgicenters (TVH&S;) grant proposal dedicated to establishing TVH&S; based bilingual medical interpreter services.
According to Traci Andrews, Director of Development for TVH&S;, Requested funding would enable us to partner with El Puente, a medical translation services organization based out of Jackson, Wyoming in bringing much needed qualified on-call interpreters to assist our Spanish-speaking population in understanding health care services available to them through TVH&S; while maneuvering effectively once they are in the hospital setting. The collaboration with El Puente will begin immediately upon receipt of grant funding and continue through the grant cycle. El Puente has been extremely effective in Jackson, Wyoming and is the only professional group of its kind readily available to our organization within suitable distance to our hospital.
The grant cycle is to begin on July 1, 2004 and continue through a three year period. The program will be evaluated annually for effectiveness and viability for subsequent years funding. For questions or comments regarding the RHCAP program or Teton Valley Hospital & Surgicenter, please contact Traci Andrews, Director of Development @ (208) 354-2383 ext. 181.
