State-of-the-art Equipment Purchase

Monday, January 05, 2004

For Immediate Release

Driggs, ID - (01/05/2004) - The Toshiba Asteion CT Systems (also called a computed tomography or CAT scanner) takes just seconds to rotate around a patients body and perform a common test like a chest scan.

The speed means that Teton Valley Hospital & Surgicenter will be able to test more patients per day for head and spine injuries, lung and liver disease, cancer, tumors, blood clots, internal bleeding and a host of other diseases and injuries that CT can reveal. Likewise, faster diagnosis can be lifesaving for trauma cases like auto accident victims.

The new system uses a technology called multi-slice imaging providing more mini image slices of the body per second than traditional CTs. These slices are assembled by a computer to provide clearer, sharper 3-D views of anatomical structures like aneurysms, tumors and infections. The views enable physicians to make better diagnoses.

Most importantly, the speed and advanced technology means that Teton Valley residents need not leave the valley for their tests and be assured the results are back faster reducing the anxiety that comes with lengthy transports and testing at out of area facilities.

For more information or to schedule a tour of Teton Valley Hospital & Surgicenter including the new state-of-the-art CT Scan, please contact Traci Andrews, Director of Development @ (208) 354-3617 ext. 181.
