Teton Valley Health Care is working with Dr. Curtis to ensure a smooth transition for all his patients.

Dr. Curtis joined Teton Valley Health Care (formerly Teton Valley Hospital) in 1986, and for many years he provided on-call emergency care at Teton Valley Hospital 24 hours a day, 7 days a week without much relief. For a long time, Dr. Curtis was the only doctor that covered emergencies in Teton Valley Hospital. Teton Valley Ambulance Improves Response Time to Nighttime Emergencies

January 28, 2008

Dr. Eric Johnson, the head of Teton Valley Hospital's emergency department wants to remind community members that you should always call for an ambulance if you think you might be suffering from a stroke or heart attack: "By calling for an ambulance, you set off a series of responses that will improve your chance of not only recovery, but survival". Several life-saving advances have been made in the treatment of heart attack and stroke, but only a small percentage of patients are getting to the hospital early enough to reap the benefits of those therapies. A delay in seeking medical treatment, even a delay of a few minutes, is a key factor in the nearly one-half million heart attack deaths in the U.S. each year.

In January, Teton Valley Ambulance District made it even easier to ensure victims of heart attacks or strokes are able to receive life-saving care as soon as possible by stationing EMTs at Teton Valley Hospital 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. That means that you can call 911 day or night for a medical emergency and EMTs will be on their way to help you within one minute.....[read the full press release]

Hospital Board of Trustees to Investigate Different Hospital Models

January 24, 2008

At its regular meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 23, Teton Valley Health Care's Board of Trustees directed the Interim CEO, Rachel Gonzales, to further investigate several options that would set the health-care system up to meet the future needs of the community.

Teton Valley Hospital was built in 1939, and the original building is still used to house the current hospital and the Driggs Health Clinic. After several remodels of the facility, the health-care system has run out of space to provide the services needed by Teton Valley in the future.

The organization's current model as a county hospital has served the county well in the past, but rapid growth in Teton Valley and a recent ruling by the Idaho Supreme Court have made it harder for the county's hospital to keep up with growth.....[read the full press release]
