Current Campaigns
Emergent Needs Fund
As Teton Valley Hospital continues to work through a serious financial crisis, the Hospital Foundation Board of Directors is focused on its charitable mission to support the development, improvement and expansion of our hospital's facilities, equipment, services and programs. Efforts to raise support for a 64-slice CT Scan have been put aside temporarily while the Foundation re-focuses on strengthening funding coffers in order to meet emergent needs which have an immediate impact on the delivery of healthcare.
Currently, top priorities include laboratory microscopes, a new blood centrifuge, an EKG unit for the Emergency Room, upgrades for the pharmacy, and 4 syringe pumps. For up-to-date information on highest priority needs, please contact our Development office: 208-354-6301.

Hospital Foundation Receives Funding for Free Mammograms
Teton Valley Hospital Foundation was awarded $10,000 from Teton Valley Regional Rally for the Cure organizers to fund free mammograms for low-income women who meet specific guidelines. TVRRC has held two Rally for the Cure golf tournaments at the Headwaters Club at Teton Springs over the past two summers in support of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, a national charity that supports breast cancer prevention. Funds gained from the first tournament were given to the national organization. This year, volunteers elected to use the funding to help local women.
"We were surprised to discover that Idaho ranks last in the nation for preventive mammograms," says TVRRC member, Julie Whitlock. "We want to help improve that statistic in some way, and it seemed like a good idea to start locally."
Teton Valley Hospital will provide the basic mammograms with funding from the TVRRC covering the costs for the screening and radiologist's fee. Funds are also available to follow-up examinations if a screening requires additional diagnostics. The program includes collaboration with medical staff from Driggs Health Clinic, District 7 Health & Welfare, and Four Peaks Urgent Care.
Women seeking a free mammogram will qualify by filling out a confidential financial statement showing they meet income requirements for charitable support (family income of 200% of Federal Poverty Guidelines), prove at least 2 years as a resident of Teton Valley, Idaho, be at least 40 years old or if younger, show risk for breast cancer. To make an appointment with a Teton Valley Hospital financial counselor in order to qualify for the free mammogram, please call 354-6331.
For further information about this program, please call Teton Valley Hospital Foundation at 354-6301.

Hospital Foundation Purchases New Imaging System
The Teton Valley Hospital Foundation Board announced completion of a fundraising campaign for a new PACS-RIS imaging system. The $136,000 unit and components were ordered last week and are scheduled to arrive at Teton Valley Hospital by April 25th.
PACS-RIS (Picture Archiving and Communications System - Radiology Information System) equipment is a digital imaging system that allows rapid, high resolution image transmission to in-house physicians and other medical facilities for accurate diagnosis, and swift record-sharing. The system is comprised of dedicated computers, monitors, software, and specialized storage components.
Currently, medical images are viewed and transferred via courtesy staff radiologists, tele-transmission or physical delivery of films. PACS eliminates the need for large film images and corresponding storage difficulties by utilizing digital technology for record storage, retrieval, and transmission.
Teton Valley Hospital's NovaRad PACS-RIS unit will integrate several imaging processes: X-rays, CT and MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) Scans, fluoroscopic, and laparoscopic procedures.
Patients will benefit greatly from the implementation of the new system by getting faster diagnostic responses from their health care providers and radiologists, and allowing for quick sharing of their "film" with designated specialists or other medical professionals.
Funds were raised for the new unit through hundreds of private contributions to Teton Valley Hospital Foundation. Charitable donations from two previous Community Foundation of Jackson Hole Old Bill's Fun Run events, Foundation year-end campaigns, and the annual Denim to Diamonds Gala secured the funding.
"This is a state of the art system that our hospital has needed for some time," said Foundation President Tom Hickey. "Our patients, staff, and overall business operations will benefit greatly from this major advance in technology. This system was all made possible by generous donors, the local community and our hardworking Board of Directors," added Hickey.
